Frequently Asked Questions
Is 12 yards big enough for a major build project?
A 12 yard skip holds 100-120 bin bags and is well suited to major build projects, office clearances and large structural refurbishments. For very large commercial builds generating continuous waste over weeks, a 16 yard RORO or multiple collections may be more practical — call us and we will advise on the most cost-effective option.
Do I need a permit for a 12 yard skip?
At 4.5m long, a 12 yard skip is unlikely to fit on a residential driveway. Road placement will typically be required, meaning a permit from the local council is needed. Cost is £50–80. We handle the permit application as part of your booking — just confirm the road location when ordering.
How long can I keep a 12 yard skip?
Standard hire is 7 days. For ongoing construction projects, extended hire of 14 days or longer is available. We can also arrange a swap-out service — collect and replace with an empty skip — when your project generates continuous waste over a longer period.
What can't I put in a 12 yard skip?
Prohibited items: asbestos (any form), tyres, wet paint in cans, batteries, fridges/freezers, WEEE electrical items, fluorescent tubes, and hazardous/clinical waste. Most construction materials including bricks, concrete, plasterboard, timber, roofing and rubble are accepted. For specialist waste streams, contact us for guidance.
